Welcome to the Digital Production
Pipeline!
Recently, I have run across many people who have come from the world of the classic manufacturing production pipeline but need guidence on fully utilizing the new advancements in additive manufacturing. I have 25 years of experience in the digitial realm of modeling, moldmaking, and training. I can give on site training on the utilization of Scan data, Solid modeling, Mesh modeling (Zbrush) to create things like 3d printed molds, lightweighted models (nTopology), and multimaterial printing (Dual Extrusion and Voxel Printing).
I can Also show your team how to set up file structures and the total information pipeline needed to properly manage a complex digital to additive manufacturing production.

Expert Service, Design, Prototyping, and Finishing 3d product company.
Our current 3d Printer is a modified Makerbot Replicator 2X printer. It has the resolution of 0.16mm layer height in Z and 0.001mm positioning accuracy in the X and Y. Small details may go beyond the ability to accurately print . In this case, we can arrange to have it sent out for special fabrication at Shapeways or other additive manufacturing service.
- We print in ABS Black, White, Pink,(other colors can be ordered by request, but will require some stocking costs). (Two Material types mixed together can allow for form and style to be combined into the same part.)
- Other filaments available are WOOD, Nylon, Clear, Flexible, and now PLA (corn based polymer).
- ABS is Acetone Vapor sensitive, meaning it can be cured to a high Gloss in 10 seconds.
- We also have a dissolveable filament. (For a complex part that would not be able to support itself while printing .)
- We will also offer finishing, as part of our Artisanal hand crafted print work, This includes painting in Acrylic, Enamel, Lacquer, Glazes in UV Reactive Polish, and Staining/Weathering.

Custom Work:
Model Kit: Black Star Sovereign
This is the multi part model that Jim did the day Bowie left us. The first version of him is available at Shapeways, in a Full Color Sandstone 3d print.
Sky Doll
Jim was adding some details using Zbrush’s new poly editing tools on a small face from his prototype Ball Jointed Doll. He decided to refine the model a bit, adding some more details, and then he started to realize that she was starting to look like Noa from the beautiful comic book Sky Doll.
For those of you not familiar with PLA, it’s a Plastic made with Corn. Most of the Consumer level printers use PLA because of it’s lower print temp and tendency not to warp. When we first got the Printer, we were under the impression that it would be able to do PLA, But the extruder path had some troubles doing that. Jim modified it with an extruder from Robo Savvy , a Robot and 3d printer reseller in the UK. Now it works great with PLA!

Tiki Ornaments : Dr Venture, Dr. Killinger, Dr. Orpheus, and H.E.L.Per
We went to Dragon Con back in 2014, and some very lucky Cosplayers got their own extremely short run 3dprinted and hand painted Tiki Ornaments as Prizes.

Slices of Spider
Celebrating 14 years of developing what will eventually be both an epic story and a functioning automaton.
Jim created an informal timeline of the Zarianna 3dprinted prototype. She started off as an experiment in Maya 1.0 back when he was learning nurbs modeling. He created his first water tight model and emailed it to Stratus Systems back in 2001 (it was based on Bjork). Over the next few years Jim drew many more sketches and started developing a science fiction story about her, while working in simulation and then video games. After experimenting with paper clay, polymer clay, silicon molding and casting in resin, he purchased his first 3d printer for prototyping both the doll and automatons and founded UniCron Studios.
The original plan before turning it into an app, was going to go like this:
After the doll’s ball joint system is ready for production, we will be doing a limited run of resin cast BJDs and then we will expand from there. Jim plans on releasing select passages from the story with resulting iterations of Doll parts.

It was later decided that UniCron studios could best use the power of Virtualization and the inevitable spread of 3d printers to have a much greater impact with delivering an App with SAS, and then build a larger franchise around that.
